Sparta Global are hiring a Mathematical Modeller on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, to work on a public sector project based around Milton Keynes/Northampton.
Due to the nature of this work, we are only considering candidates who have a PhD in either physics, mathematics, or engineering.
Summary:
Learn, operate and develop investment planning models, supporting our client's strategic and business planning processes, including bespoke analysis where required by teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Learn and operate one or more asset investment planning models to provide numerate guidance to other teams as part of the business planning process.
* Update relationships in one or more planning models using analyses based on existing methodologies to maintain the model’s current effectiveness.
* Develop deep knowledge of model and domain-specific issues to enable the provision of subject matter expertise.
* Perform analyses to incrementally develop an asset investment planning model from an existing configuration document, providing quantified and evidenced business intelligence to inform the shape and structure of the company's spend and justify that spend to investors.
* Perform analysis to investigate alternative management strategies for one or more asset classes to inform asset policy development.
* Write technical material for non-technical audiences to communicate complex analytical concepts and provide context for appropriate use of model outputs.
Essential:
* PhD in a numerate discipline or equivalent experience (e.g. physics, applied mathematics, engineering)
* Experience of working in a peer‑reviewed environment
* Experience of working to demanding timescales
