We are recruiting experienced Environmental Consultants to join as an Associate EIA Director. Our Environment & Sustainability business has over 650 staff across the UK and Ireland, with flexible location options including our offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington.

As an Associate EIA Director, you will lead multidisciplinary environmental inputs to large-scale development projects that support the UK’s net zero goals, including:
* Energy generation projects (carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables)
* Energy distribution and transmission (including international connectors)
* Strategic rail projects
* Highway and greenway projects
* Portside regeneration developments
* Other sectors like ecommerce, minerals, water, defence, aviation, commercial, residential, and industrial
You will work across various consenting regimes and collaborate daily with technical experts within our Environmental Impact team, aligning with our ESG strategy.
Responsibilities
* Lead: Manage multidisciplinary environmental inputs, prepare EIA screening letters, Scoping Reports, Environmental Statements, review specialist chapters, manage resources and budgets.
* Collaborate: Work with design teams to identify environmental constraints, develop mitigation strategies, and deliver benefits.
* Create: Support business development, proposals, and technical projects.
* Inspire: Mentor and develop staff.
* Champion: Promote AECOM’s environmental services internally and externally.
Qualifications
To succeed, you should demonstrate experience in managing EIA projects, familiarity with environmental assessment methods, planning legislation, stakeholder engagement, and project management. A relevant environmental degree (preferably Masters), professional membership, Chartered Environmentalist status, and experience with DCO/TWAO regimes are required. Willingness to travel and interest in staff management are also important.
