Job overview
We are looking for Band 5 Occupational Therapists to join our therapy team at Glenfield Hospital.
You will join our established team of therapists and manage a caseload across the cardiology wards at Glenfield Hospital, working collaboratively with the MDT to achieve timely discharges and the best patient outcomes.
You will develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of cardiology and respiratory conditions. You will work closely with both physiotherapists and occupational therapists to develop your skills and competencies, treating patients from admission through to discharge. Opportunities will be available to experience other specialties as flexibility to utilise skills in other areas is essential for participation in weekend working as required.
You need to be an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
If you are motivated and passionate about providing high quality care to patients and want to join an enthusiastic, forward thinking team we would love to hear from you
Interviews will be face to face
This post is part time 29 hours.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, working to service priorities, carrying out functional assessments, treatments and interventions to facilitate safe and effective discharges. You will work with those who may have complex needs including physical, psychological and communication difficulties. You will provide a high standard of occupational therapy care as part of a responsive and patient-centred service.
You will demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills, be able to work on your own and within a team, and work with patients, carers and their families in a sensitive and professional manner.
You will be supported both formally and informally by senior staff and the wider team. We ensure regular clinical supervision, one-to-one meetings and have a robust appraisal process and a preceptorship programme.
Working for our organisation
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals: high-quality care for all, being a great place to work, partnerships for impact, and research and education excellence.
We will embed health equality in all we do and take active steps to reduce avoidable differences in healthcare, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will ensure they are an everyday reality for all: we are compassionate, we are proud, we are inclusive, and we are one team.
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make a bigger difference for the people we serve.
