The service is seeking to recruit a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to work in the service delivering 1:1 and group High Intensity CBT to the population of Bury.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide evidence based interventions to patients referred to the service.
As a CBT therapist in the team you will contribute to the development of the service and the meeting of the clinical targets set by CCG by delivering a evidence based one to one and group Step 3 interventions.
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical supervision for other members of the team which may include Trainee High Intensity Therapists.
We would welcome applications from candidates who are able to speak other languages in addition to English such as Urdu, Farsi, Polish.

NHS Bury Talking Therapies provides a range of evidence based interventions for people requiring a psychological intervention between step 2 and 3 of the stepped care model. The successful candidate will form part of the NHS Bury Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression service and provide time limited therapy, in accordance with NICE guidelines.

Our service core hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, however as a service that is constantly striving to achieve diversity in our workforce we offer flexibility of working hours to enable staff to fit their work in around their life.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities of the Post:
• To provide CBT and where appropriate other evidenced based therapies to service users referred into Primary Care Mental Health Services, in one to one and group work.
• To undertake and manage a clinical caseload and to prioritize work within agreed service criteria
• To act autonomously in the assessment, formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment strategies for patients using a range of specialist therapeutic procedures
• To liaise with other professionals as appropriate
• To undertake clinical supervision to ensure safe therapeutic practice
• To complete all documentation as required by the service
Key Requirements of the Person Specification:
• Post Graduate CBT diploma or IAPT High Intensity qualification
• Post qualification experience delivering CBT to people with common mental health problems
• Understanding of working with an ethnically diverse population
• Highly developed skills in the assessment and management of risk
* Accreditation with the BABCP

Education and Qualigications
Essential criteria
* •CBT qualification from High Intensity IAPT Course (Post Graduate Diploma)or equivalent: e.g. A recorded / registered doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology / a recorded / registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy and a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT
* •And, significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences to deliver CBT to clients with common mental health disorders as described by IAPT
* •To be accredited with a professional and accrediting and professional body e.g. BPS, UKCP, BABCP
Desirable criteria
* •Additional therapeutic intervention training
* •Trained in provision of supervision for CBT by having attended the IAPT supervisors course or a BABCP accredited supervisor course
* •EMDR qualification
* •IAPT further training e.g. IPT, DIT

Essential criteria
* •Willing to carry out all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies
* •Appointments to regulated and controlled activities require an enhanced DBS disclosure.

* •Demonstrates a good understanding of common mental health conditions as defined by IAPT
* •Demonstrable knowledge of delivering CBT to clients who are referred into the service with common mental health conditions as described by IAPT
* •Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding employment and the impact it can have on mental health / benefits and employment systems
* •Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health conditions
* •Demonstrates a good understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
* •Up to date working knowledge regarding Safeguarding Children and Adults
* •Demonstrable knowledge of clinical measures used within an IAPT service and knowledge of KPI’s
Desirable criteria
* •Previous experience of working within an IAPT service
* •Experience of delivering CBT within a group setting
* •Experience of delivering supervision

Skills and Abilities

* •Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences to deliver evidence based CBT to clients with common mental health disorders as described by IAPT
* •Computer literate
* •Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
* •Has received training (preferably formal and experiential ) and carried out risk assessments within role of a CBT Therapist
* •Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
Desirable criteria
* •Trained in provision of supervision for CBT
* Completed clinical audits within a service
* •EMDR qualified
* Demonstrable experience of Trauma Focused therapy.
