About Our Team
The Accounting Services Team are a part of the centralised shared services based across several locations in the UK, US and Asia. We are made up of thirty-six staff supporting over twenty of the UK and overseas Agencies covering all aspects of finance, from day-to-day accounting to the preparation of group submissions and dealing with new acquisitions and their integration into the Group.
The Role
ABOUT THE ROLE: Due to growth across the Mission group, we are pleased to be looking to bring in an Apprentice Finance Assistant. You will be responsible for using our bespoke system to record purchase orders, invoices and expenses. Assisting with cash management and bank reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities
* Distributing supplier invoices for authorisation using our bespoke system
* Coding and processing supplier invoices ensuring accurate costs are posted to the correct projects
* Staff expense claim processing
* Ensuring internal controls have been adhered to and that VAT is correctly identified and accounted for
* Uploading credit card costs from financial websites and reconciling supplier statements and expense accounts
* Investigating and resolving discrepancies, including working with Client Service teams and suppliers when needed
* Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining current ones which includes telephoning suppliers and checking account details
* Sorting and dealing with emails received by Accounts Payable
* Bank Reconciliation
* Posting direct debt payments
* Sales Ledger will also be part of the training after the first year
About the Person
We are seeking someone who is looking to develop a career within Finance and undertake a professional qualification via an apprenticeship. Ideally you will have some knowledge of MS Excel and Word and have good foundation in Maths. Communication is also key in this role, and you will need to be able to confidently communicate with and write to colleagues of all levels. You will need to possess a keen eye for detail, be able to process transactions in a timely and accurate manner. Ideally you will have had exposure to Sage 200 and hold your AAT Level 2.

Apprenticeship
The programme would be delivered by training provider BPP. Mandatory units include: Applied Management Accounting, Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements & Internal Accounting Systems and Controls with two optional choices. You will be required to complete 20% of study time. Depending on your prior attainment the apprenticeship could be at Level 3 or 4 AAT.
