Morson Edge are actively recruiting for X2 Quantity Surveyors in Walsall, on behalf of a tier one contractor. This is a permanent role and were seeking candidates with a civil engineering background, ideally within the water sector. NEC form of contract experience is also essential.Key ResponsibilitiesReportingEnsure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levelsEnsure accurate cash flow reporting takes placeCarry out cost management, including forecastingUpdate the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plansProcessesHelp ensure that internal commercial processes are adhered to across the business unitActively seek to improve processes and proceduresHold a good understanding of the processes and procedures used by any JV/Alliance that we are working with, and assist in their development and improvementExternal relationshipsHelp ensure that any main contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate for Barhale, with commercial risks identifiedEnsure that the supply chain is engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditionsBuild and maintain good client relationshipsBe responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accountingPrepare applications for paymentLiaise with the client, client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional paymentsInternal relationshipsContribute towards effective interaction between the Commercial Team and the operational site teamsWork with site management to forecast predicted spend and cash recovery, and ensure that both are kept in line with the targetShare best practices with others and be proactive in advising site teams on costs and their managementKey Measures and TargetsAccurate monthly forecastingAbility to challenge resources and costsMaintain deadlines in line with the monthly commercial calendarKey RelationshipsCommercial Manager/Managing Quantity Surveyor and the rest of the Commercial TeamBusiness Development and Bid ManagersSite TeamsClientsAbout youEssentialPrevious experience in the construction industryHND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity SurveyingFamiliarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction LawPrevious experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations.Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.Have knowledge and experience in estimation and cost analysis.Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft OfficeExcellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlinesAbility to work effectively in a team and delegate, but also able to work on own initiativeDesirableMember of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towardsCSCS cardCaring and investing in youOur values have been embedded at Barhale for over 40 years ,and they are our guiding principle regarding how we care and invest in people.
