We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support our inpatients with temporary tobacco abstinence whilst in hospital and underpin quit attempts. This exciting role will involve helping patients to reframe their approach to their smoking behaviours, manage their cravings with personalised support plans and tailor those treatment plans, which titrate nicotine replacement therapy, to support discharge planning and a longer‑term goal of being smokefree.
Responsibilities
* Undertake tobacco dependence assessments.
* Educate service users about options to manage their tobacco dependence.
* Support quit attempts.
* Create personalised quit plans and assist service users to access the support they need during inpatient stay and after discharge.
* Collect data in accordance with metrics required by the ICs and NHSE monitoring.
* Build rapport and act as a support mechanism for Ward Staff regarding Stop Smoking Support for inpatients.
Qualifications
Essential:
* National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care or an acceptable level 3 Qualification with equivalent experience.
* Good level of General Education including Maths and English.
* NCSCT stop smoking advisor qualification or equivalent work experience to advanced level.
Desirable:
* Smoking cessation Advisor Intermediate level qualification.
* Care Certificate.
Experience
Essential:
* Healthy lifestyle/behavioural change experience within a healthcare/smokefree service setting.
* Engagement/collaboration with communities, individuals and multidisciplinary teams.
* Teaching/training behavioural change to multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable:
* Experience of providing smoking cessation support.
* Working in a hospital environment.
Skills
