A well-established manufacturing business based in Fareham is looking to recruit an experienced Purchasing Executive / Purchasing Co-Ordinator to support the procurement and supply of materials required for production and customer orders. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment who enjoys working in a fast-paced, operational role. The Purchasing Executive will play a key part in ensuring purchasing activities run smoothly, stock levels remain accurate, and suppliers deliver materials on time to support production schedules.
As Purchasing Executive, you will oversee daily purchasing operations, ensuring materials and inventory are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively. You will manage purchasing activities across multiple suppliers while maintaining accurate stock control and supporting production planning. You will also work closely with internal teams to ensure purchasing decisions support production schedules, customer orders and overall business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure materials are available for production
Run stock requisition worksheets to support planned purchasing requirements
Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels
Manage and support a Purchasing Assistant
Conduct and manage stock takes
Investigate stock discrepancies and resolve stock errors
Expedite late deliveries and maintain supplier performance
Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, lead times and delivery schedules
Consolidate suppliers through strategic re-sourcing initiatives
Maintain accurate supplier lead times within purchasing systems
Support continuous improvement of purchasing processes and efficiency
Work collaboratively with production and sales teams to ensure purchasing supports customer delivery
Skills & Knowledge
Previous experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of MRP systems and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Intermediate IT skills including Microsoft Office
Strong time management and decision-making abilities
Experience with Navision or Microsoft Dynamics - desirable
CIPS qualification or willingness to work towards CIPS - desirable
