Overview
Applications are invited for the role of Junior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to commence as soon as possible for a period of at least 12 months. The post is primarily based at Burnley General Hospital. The post holder will be required to take part in the first on-call rota, including BSOTS triage. The Lancashire Women’s & Newborn Centre is located on the Burnley General site and we provide satellite clinics across East Lancashire to ensure ease of access for the local population. The department offers a full range of clinics in both obstetrics and gynaecology with sub-speciality interests among senior team members. This is a training-focused environment with opportunities to expand your expertise and knowledge within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments.
Responsibilities
* General Obstetric & Gynaecology duties including antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics (with exposure to sub-specialities), assisting in obstetric/gynae theatre lists, and Labour Ward/Maternal Assessment Unit duties.
* Attend special interest clinics where available.
* See and plan care for obstetric in-patients (supported by the Consultant) and manage Labour Ward responsibilities.
* Attend Antenatal clinics, including specialist clinics, and be involved in perioperative care and outpatient clinics in gynaecology.
* Gynaecology duties include care of in-patients, admissions to the Gynaecology Ward, perioperative care of patients, and involvement in outpatient clinics (oncology, urogynaecology, endometriosis, colposcopy, and ambulatory gynaecology).
* Contribute to teaching on a one-to-one basis; participate in departmental audit and research projects.
* Participate in governance, audit, and continuous education activities; contribute to the department’s research programmes.
* Gain clinical experience and opportunities to attend theatres and advance skills under supervision.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and meeting the requirements of the person specification.
* Strong computer literacy and excellent communication skills.
* Willingness to work within a team of doctors, midwives, specialist nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
