Overview

* Location: Horsham, West Sussex
* Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time, Term Time Only
* Hours: 40 Hours per Week
* Salary: Up to £34,361.52 Annually
* Start Date: January 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)

Join a newly opened SEND Secondary School in Horsham, West Sussex, dedicated to providing tailored education to young autistic individuals aged 11-16. This role offers the chance to be part of a pioneering team focused on creating a nurturing environment that meets the unique needs of our students transitioning from mainstream education.


Responsibilities

* Lead and enhance the safeguarding procedures within the school, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
* Develop and maintain an effective safeguarding culture across the school, where all staff are well-trained and proactive in managing safeguarding concerns.
* Collaborate with the senior leadership team (SLT) and the wider safeguarding team to uphold and prioritize child protection measures.
* Engage with families and the community as part of a comprehensive approach to student welfare and safeguarding.
* Oversee and support tutor group teams to ensure robust communication channels between the school and students' homes.
* Allocate dedicated time for the training and development of staff in safeguarding protocols and best practices.


Required Skills & Qualifications

* Proven experience in safeguarding roles, within educational settings or other relevant environments.
* Strong leadership skills and the ability to foster a team-oriented approach to safeguarding.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively liaising with students, staff, and families.
* Commitment to continuous professional development in safeguarding and child protection.
* Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to implement effective safeguarding strategies.
