Offer description

Part Time - 15 hours per week, Fixed Term until March 2027
Do you believe everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive—no matter their background or starting point?

We're looking for 2 compassionate, proactive, and adaptable individuals to join our Adult and Community Learning (ACL) team as Learning Support Assistants. These roles will involve working in Initial Accommodation settings in central Bristol, supporting delivery of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes.

In this role, you'll support adults from all walks of life-including those who are new to learning, overcoming personal barriers, or returning to education to build their confidence, develop skills and move forward with their goals.

*What You'll Do*
As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced tutors to:

* Support individual learners and small groups in English, maths, digital skills and other subjects.
* Help learners plan and reflect on their learning journey using ILPs (Individual Learning Plans).
* Build supportive, respectful relationships that enable learners to feel safe, motivated and valued.
* Assist with assessments, record keeping, and encouraging participation—helping learners stay on track and reach their potential.
* Signpost learners to opportunities for further learning, work, volunteering or wellbeing support.

*What We're Looking For*
We welcome people with a wide range of experiences, including those who have supported others in education, care, community or voluntary settings.

You don't need to have worked in a school or classroom, we're looking for people who can connect, support and uplift.

*You'll Need:*

* Strong communication skills in spoken and written English.
* A warm, flexible and encouraging approach to working with adults.
* Awareness of safeguarding, equality and health & safety—or a willingness to learn.
* GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above—or a willingness to work towards it.
* A genuine interest in inclusive education and supporting diverse communities.
* Experience working with digital platforms (like Microsoft 365) and a desire to learn new technology is a bonus.

Why join us?
You'll Be Part Of a Values-led Team That:

* Works collaboratively and respectfully across Bristol's vibrant communities.
* Celebrates diversity and takes an inclusive, trauma-informed approach to learning.
* Believes in doing the right thing for learners, every time.

*Role Details:*

* Part-time (15 hours / week), working across mornings and afternoons, Monday to Friday. Exact hours are negotiable according to lesson timetables.
* 18-month fixed term contract, until March 2027.

Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
