Job Description Summary The MiCOM Platform Hardware Manager will lead and manage the hardware engineering team for the MiCOM platform product lines within GE Vernova’s Grid Automation Business. This role is pivotal in overseeing product hardware development, ensuring that products meet all technical, quality, and delivery requirements. Additionally, the Hardware Manager will support the resolution of production and customer-related hardware problems, ensuring the smooth operation of hardware production and the timely resolution of customer issues. Job Description Summary: The MiCOM Platform Hardware Manager will lead and manage the hardware engineering team for the MiCOM platform product lines within GE Vernova’s Grid Automation Business. This role is pivotal in overseeing product hardware development, ensuring that products meet all technical, quality, and delivery requirements. Additionally, the Hardware Manager will support the resolution of production and customer-related hardware problems, ensuring the smooth operation of hardware production and the timely resolution of customer issues. Key Responsibilities: 1. Leadership & Team Management: Lead a team of hardware engineers to provide hardware engineering support in NPI (New Product Introduction) and product LCS (Life Cycle Support) activities. Provide guidance, support, and career development opportunities for team members. 2. Product Development: Take full ownership of hardware deliveries, ensuring that all hardware components are delivered on the project schedule and meet technical specifications and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate and communicate hardware requirements and timelines. Work closely with product managers, design teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to support hardware integration into product designs with an emphasis on manufacturability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. 3. Production Issue Resolution: Identify, analyze, and resolve production-related hardware issues. Work closely with the production team to implement corrective actions. Maintain documentation of production issues and resolutions for future reference. 4. Customer Issue Resolution: Act as a point of contact for customer hardware-related concerns. Diagnose and resolve customer issues in a timely and effective manner. Collaborate with customer service and support teams to ensure customer satisfaction. 5. Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to implement improvements in hardware development processes, focusing on reducing cycle time, enhancing quality, and optimizing resources. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate into product development. 6. Documentation & Reporting: Ensure that all design and testing documentation is properly maintained. Provide regular updates on the progress of hardware development projects to senior management and stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Master's degree is a plus) Advanced and demonstrated years of experience leading and mentoring a team of experienced hardware engineers and developers, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet NPI delivery deadlines. Experience working with a large, globally distributed team. Significant and proven experience in hardware engineering and development for mission-critical industrial systems. Excellent knowledge of hardware design principles, manufacturing processes, and exceptional problem-solving skills. Experience with product safety, EMI, and environmental standards compliance. Excellent project management skills, with experience in managing cross-functional teams and meeting deadlines. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across departments. Desired Characteristics: Experience with lean methodologies and SAFE Agile or similar product development methodologies. Ability to articulate and present technical issues, development roadmaps, and project status.
