Fylde Council is looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to take on the vital position of Head of Waste and Fleet Services. With direct responsibility for over 80 employees, this is a high-profile leadership role at the very heart of our operations. From day-to-day service delivery to long-term strategy, you’ll make a measurable impact on the quality of life in our borough.
Responsibilities
* Provide clear leadership and daily oversight across the full spectrum of waste and fleet operations.
* Drive compliance, service improvement, and innovation, ensuring we meet the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
* Lead on vehicle procurement and the delivery of our carbon reduction ambitions.
* Shape the future of waste and fleet management, responding to new legislation and supporting wider council priorities.
* Inspire and support frontline teams, creating a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Brings proven experience in waste or fleet services, ideally within local government or a similar setting.
* Can confidently lead, motivate, and manage large operational teams.
* Combines strong strategic thinking with practical operational expertise.
* Builds effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders at every level.
* Has a proactive and innovative approach to service improvement and sustainability.
