Finance Officer
We are looking for an enthusiastic School Finance Officer who will work under the direction of the School’s Office Manager to provide an efficient and effective financial support service to the Headteacher and the Governors. They will ensure that services are delivered in accordance with service objectives, financial regulations, and within written guidelines and frameworks set by the School Financial Regulations and Wiltshire Local Authority.
The successful candidate will:
•have excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
•demonstrate the ability to work flexibly as part of a team in a busy environment
•be well organised, motivated and efficient
•be able to prioritise work and meet deadlines
•be proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel and Financial Management Systems
•have previous financial experience of working within financial regulations (preferably in a school setting) and have knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, school fund, budget setting, lettings…
•be in receipt of some formal accountancy training or qualifications
In addition to finance related responsibilities there is an expectation to complete other administrative duties:
•cover our busy front office and in doing so, communicate in a professional and courteous manner, both verbally and in writing, with all visitors, contractors, parents, staff and pupils
•provide a timely telephone and reception service to the school, ensuring that enquiries are dealt with promptly, courteously and that confidentiality is always maintained
•maintain staff and pupil records
•be in receipt of First Aid training and administer first aid as necessary
•update the school’s website and the school’s social media posts
•assist with parent/carer evenings events and/or any other activities
•participate in induction training, the staff appraisal process and professional development opportunities
