SEN Teaching Assistant – Be the Person Who Makes School Work for Every Child Start Date: September 2025 Type: Full-time and Flexible Options Available Location: Placements across Salford & Bury available We’re looking for individuals who genuinely care about children – especially those who don’t always have the easiest time in school. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role isn’t about ticking boxes or standing at the side of the classroom. It’s about being a calm, consistent presence for pupils who really need someone in their corner. What You’ll Actually Be Doing: 1:1 Support – You’ll work closely with a pupil who may need help regulating their emotions, staying focused, or understanding tasks. You’ll build trust and become a key part of their daily school experience. Classroom Support – You’ll assist the teacher in creating a positive learning environment for all students. That might mean working with small groups, helping set up activities, or simply being the extra pair of eyes and hands that keep the class running smoothly. Real-Time Problem Solving – Every day is different. One morning might involve helping a child re-engage after a tough start to their day. Another could involve using creative strategies to help them understand a maths concept in their own way. Being a Steady Presence – Some pupils will test boundaries, others will be quietly anxious. Your calmness, patience and reliability can make a world of difference. This role doesn’t require formal qualifications – but it does require experience with children in some form (teaching, volunteering, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, caring – formal or informal). If you don’t have school-based experience, we ask that you send a short statement or cover letter explaining how your background has prepared you to work with children in an educational setting.
