They therefore need a Learning Support Assistant who is understanding, patient, with a positive, go-to attitude! As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for setting boundaries in the classroom and making sure the pupils understand the value of education. You will help them understand their own emotional needs, and ensure they feel safe and supported in school. You will help manage any challenging behaviour that arises as a result of the student's needs, as well as providing pastoral support to students. Most importantly, you will set an example for all pupils and act as a positive role model. If you are a Graduate in Psychology, Criminology or Sociology, this is the perfect opportunity for you to utilise your knowledge of atypical behaviour and development, whilst also gaining practical first-hand experience in the mental health sector. Previous experience working with children or adults with additional needs would be beneficial - this could be professional or personal experience.
