Are you a positive role model ready to change lives in Blackpool?

We are looking for a resilient, empathetic, and driven Mentor to join our dedicated team within an Alternative Provision in Blackpool. This is a specialist environment supporting young people who have been excluded from mainstream education or require a bespoke learning pathway due to SEMH needs.

Whether you are a qualified Mentor with a background in youth work or an unqualified individual with the life experience and "grit" to connect with disengaged transition-age pupils, we want to hear from you.

The Role: What You'll Be Doing

One-to-One Mentoring: Building high-impact, trusting relationships with students to improve their engagement with learning.
Behaviour Support: Identifying triggers and implementing de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
Life Skills: Guiding pupils through social skills, emotional regulation, and preparation for post-16 transitions.
Alternative Curriculum: Assisting in the delivery of functional skills and vocational activities outside of a traditional classroom setting.
Advocacy: Acting as a bridge between the pupil, their family, and external support agencies. What We're Looking For

We welcome applications from both qualified and unqualified Mentors who possess:

Relevant Experience: Backgrounds in Youth Offending teams, Sports Coaching, Residential Care, or Military/Police are highly transferable.
Patience & Resilience: The ability to remain a "calm port in a storm" when a young person is in crisis.
Communication: An authentic communication style that can "speak the language" of Blackpool's youth while maintaining professional boundaries.
Commitment: A long-term desire to stay and support the Blackpool community. Why Join Our Alternative Provision?

Rewarding Work: No two days are the same, and the impact you have is immediate and visible.
Professional Development: Fully funded training in Safeguarding, Mental Health First Aid, and Team Teach.
Supportive Culture: Regular clinical supervision and debrief sessions with an experienced leadership team.
Local Impact: Be part of a service that is actively reducing exclusion rates in the Blackpool area. How to Apply
