Salary and hours: Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 per hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location. It is our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week; if you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we have opportunities for this too and would love to hear from you.
Availability: The period of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work is shown in the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility; if the times you are available to work match closely but not exactly to the times we are advertising, we’d still love to hear from you.

Tesco Shift Leaders oversee store operations from the shop floor, supporting colleagues and ensuring the store runs smoothly. You’ll face challenges and strive to make things better for customers, colleagues and communities every day.
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment, with bags of variety
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be there for customers, listening and helping them leave with what they came for
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback
* Guide and support colleagues, ensuring a safe place to work and shop
* Understand store performance and assist managers in delivering actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and set a positive example for your team

Role specifics: Availability window shows days and times; example times are provided for each day of the week. This role is full-time and includes day shifts.
Responsibilities (as Shift Leader):
* Co-ordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience for customers
* Support colleagues in delivering daily priorities and breaks
* Open and close the store, manage duty cover, and ensure safety for everyone
* Be the point of contact for day-to-day queries in the absence of a manager
* Keep the store clean, tidy, and well-presented
* Coordinate seasonal, community and charity events with managers
* Foster an inclusive, positive team atmosphere and provide great customer service
* Keep the team informed of communications, changes, and updates
* Stay knowledgeable about store performance and identify improvements
* Ensure health and safety procedures are followed
You will need to be a great role model, communicate clearly, lead in the absence of the Manager, handle change, motivate your team, and stay curious about opportunities to improve services for customers and communities.
