Role: Care Assistant
Salary: £15-£16 p/h
Location: BH15, Poole
Shifts on offer: Weekend days (09.00am to 21.00pm)
About the role
We are looking for a compassionate Care Assistant to support our Service User who sustained a C5 spinal cord injury following a surfing accident while on holiday. As a result, the client lives with spastic quadriplegia and neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction. Before the accident, they led a very active life, and that hasn’t changed. They remain motivated, sociable, and determined to live life as fully as possible.
Our client wishes to live independently with 24‑hour care support in place. They are a dedicated volunteer with the RNLI, supporting two teams and actively contributing to the RNLI Disabled Network. Helping others through this work is incredibly important to them and gives their life real purpose. This package will give the right carer the opportunity to support someone who is passionate about helping others, staying active in the community, and living life on their own terms.
Key responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day care and support for a client with a C5 spinal cord injury, including assistance with personal care and mobility.
* Support the client’s independent living goals by ensuring they have 24‑hour care support where necessary.
* Follow detailed care plans and protocols meticulously.
* Observe and report subtle changes in the individual’s condition.
Requirements
* A minimum of 6 months of professional UK care experience.
* Must hold a full UK driving licence.
* Excellent communication skills and the patience to build a strong, understanding relationship with an individual who has full mental capacity and can make their own choices.
* The ability to follow detailed care plans and protocols meticulously.
* A proactive and observant nature, able to spot subtle changes in an individual's condition.
* Provision of the correct compliance documents, including an updated Right to Work and a valid DBS certificate (we can assist with a new application).
