Job Summary
Bradford Councils, Department of Place is recruiting an Apprentice HGV & Plant Mechanic to join the Fleet Workshop.
This is a four-year apprenticeship where you will train to become a fully qualified HGV and plant mechanic while completing a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship.
By the end of the apprenticeship, you must have passed the UK driving test and gained a full UK driving licence (self-funded).
This role is based at: Shearbridge Depot, Great Horton Rd, Bradford BD7 1PU.

Main Responsibilities
• Follow all safety rules, use tools and equipment correctly, and protect yourself, colleagues and the public.
• Look after workshop tools, vehicles and plant equipment, and keep the work area clean.
• Diagnose faults, complete repairs, perform services and inspections, and support colleagues.
• Fill in required paperwork, order parts, attend breakdowns, move vehicles and take them for tests.
• Attend college/training, follow policies, set a good example and take on reasonable extra duties.
Essential Skills
• GCSE Maths and English (A–C / 4–9) or Level 1+ in both subjects.
• Must be able to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
• Able to work in a team, follow guidance, use own initiative and take responsibility.
