We’re Hiring: Lead Software Engineer – SCADA & RTU Systems

We’re now seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Software Engineer to join our Energy business, delivering high‑quality SCADA and RTU‑based control systems for the transmission and distribution sector.
About the Role
In this leadership role, you will guide small engineering teams through the full project lifecycle — from requirements capture and design through to implementation, testing and customer acceptance.
You’ll work closely with the Project Manager to plan, coordinate and technically steer multiple short‑turnaround projects, including system upgrades, extensions and modifications. Strong control and automation expertise is essential, and experience with substation automation, bay controllers or RTUs is highly advantageous.
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
* 5+ years’ advanced SCADA configuration experience (Zenon, Panorama, ArchestrA or similar)
* 3+ years producing FDS/SDS, I/O schedules and test documentation
* Experience leading technical delivery and reviewing engineering work
* Strong understanding of engineering lifecycles and QA processes
* Ability to coach and support junior engineers
* Willingness to travel when required
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Transmission & Distribution substation control systems
* Protocols: IEC 60870‑5‑101/104, IEC 61850, DNP3
* Bay controllers & RTUs (GE C264, DS Agile, SEL RTAC/AXION, GE D20/D2x, G500)
* Network architectures (RSTP, PRP, HSR) & SDN solutions
* Experience with simulation tools and legacy PLC/RTU platforms
