The PEP team works closely with the investment teams at Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners across the US, UK and Australian energy markets. PEP was established to provide Quinbrook with enhanced capability in project origination, development, asset management and revenue optimisation. Projects developed by PEP are intended for future investment by Quinbrook via its managed funds.
Role Overview
We are looking for a project manager to lead the delivery of renewable energy projects.
The funds develop, acquire, construct and operate projects with a long term interest. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects through pre-construction, construction, commissioning and handover to operational teams.
You will be a key interface between our company and contractors and consultants performing the work. You will coordinate and manage the efforts of all the project stakeholders during the execution phase. Amongst others, you will manage the grid operators, contestable grid connection work contractors, OEMs, BoP and EPC contractors, planning authorities and landowners.
You will support development of procurement strategies, devise and deliver the time schedule, manage project costs, manage risks and opportunities including implementing mitigation strategies where necessary to secure project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and define the time schedule for delivering the project. In so doing, comprehensively capture scope and sequence of works to efficiently deliver projects into operation on time.
* Identify and monitor project risks and issues during the pre-construction and construction phase and support development of mitigation strategies.
* Effectively administer the project contracts applying the provisions defined therein in a timely and highly organised manner.
* Develop, monitor and maintain project construction budgets. Seek opportunity for value improvements and develop commercial strategies to manage change or resolve disputes.
* Interface with and hold accountable the EPC, interconnection works contractors, the electricity grid transmission company, permitting departments, landowners and other external stakeholders.
* Ensure timely delivery of projects in line with agreed standards for quality.
* Ensure effective project governance and controls (safety and compliance).
* Ensure project consistency and coherence across agreements.
* Foresee and resolve technical or engineering problems or disconnects.
* Prepare and / or monitor project risk management plans and budget deviations.
* Effectively manage major project phase transitions including, commencement of construction, transition to operation, EPC take over process including documentation of as-built works, closure of EPC contractual obligations.
* Contribute to the definition and preparation of specifications, contract schedules and contract conditions.
* Lead project procurement activities and analysis of tender returns to confirm adequate description of the scope of work, project requirements and proper allocation of risks and constraints.
* Manage internal copy of project records (i.e. contract notices, design and drawing documentation, as-built information, plant operating manuals, vendor data sheets, manufacturing documentation, plant inspection books, completion reports).
* Support the pre-construction phase of portfolio projects including permitting conditions discharge, grid connection compliance process, project risk management.
* Manage change orders, claims and dispute resolution.
* Pursue innovative ways to optimise process and outcome improvement.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of whole project lifecycle for renewable energy projects from planning to operation.
* Experience of delivering solar or battery energy storage systems, the technologies and the hazards.
* Appreciation of electrical systems, hazards and management methods.
* In depth knowledge of grid codes, compliance and commissioning.
Requirements
* 6-10 years experience leading delivery of utility scale renewable energy or power sector projects as project director, project manager, client site manager.
* Excellent communicator.
* Experience preparing and managing project schedules and budgets.
* Experience working with electricity system operators in multiple contexts.
* Aware of contract structures, risk arrangements and procurement processes.
* Aware of construction, commissioning and grid compliance process for renewable energy power plants
* Aware of safe work practises in construction and power sectors and role of owner in securing safety.
* Attention to detail and discipline with deadlines
* Self-motivated and pride in work product
* Bachelor's degree level education in engineering or equivalent experience and professional qualification
* Ability to travel to construction sites within United Kingdom (15-30%)
