Overview
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Geriatrician on behalf of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cornwall. The Eldercare team focuses on Older Peoples Services, Parkinson’s Disease Service and Frailty, with inpatient and outpatient care provided across hospital and community settings. The team collaborates with research, education, and a broad MDT to deliver multidisciplinary care for older people in the community and hospital settings.
The role may include general geriatrics with interests in orthogeriatrics, dementia, Parkinson’s / movement disorders, community geriatrics, stroke, or a combination of these areas, with opportunities to develop specific interests through innovation and service improvement. Flexible working arrangements are welcome; the job plan for new consultants includes 2.5 SPAs in the first year.

Responsibilities
* Provide inpatient care for people with Parkinson’s Disease in collaboration with Eldercare consultants, supported by Acute PD specialist nurses and a Specialist Pharmacist.
* Deliver outpatient and community-based care in hospital clinics and through countywide MDTs (including Nurse Consultants, PD Nurse Specialists, and Specialist Physiotherapists).
* Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching; contribute to research and ongoing studies in Parkinson’s disease and related areas.
* Contribute to service development and innovation in geriatric care, including potential surgical liaison and development of personal areas of interest.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team with nurses, allied health professionals, community partners, and old age psychiatrists to provide high-quality care.
* Support flexible working arrangements and consider job sharing if requested.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Enthusiastic and dynamic individuals with interest in geriatrics and related subspecialties.
* Open to both experienced Consultants and newly trained Consultants.
* For new consultants, the job plan includes 2.5 SPAs in the first year.
* Ability to work across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings; strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
