This role involves working as part of a team to deliver care within healthcare centres and on prison units. Applicants will need to pay for their DBS check, with costs deducted from salary (£26.40 standard, £54.40 enhanced). Enrolment in the DBS Update Service is encouraged, with an annual fee of £16.
Main duties of the job
The Primary Healthcare Team provides assessments, screening, triage, emergency response, minor illness and injury care, nurse-led clinics for long-term conditions, and health promotion, aiming to offer healthcare equivalent to community services.
Nursing in a custodial environment offers opportunities to positively impact patients often experiencing poor health outcomes. Working closely with prison officers, you will ensure high standards of safe, patient-centered healthcare.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Offender Health Care Group is a leading provider of prison healthcare in the UK, serving seven prisons with a team of over 400 professionals. We collaborate with various justice and health agencies to improve offender health and reduce re-offending.
Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating healthcare, administering medications, providing triage and clinical interventions, responding to emergencies, maintaining records, delivering evidence-based care, and leading on complex health needs. You will also provide nurse-led clinics and support junior staff.
Please note: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is transitioning its offender health contracts to a new provider. Successful applicants will eventually be employed by the new provider, but recruitment remains open.
