A high-growth, engineering innovation focused business is seeking a proactive and experienced Financial Controller to join its expanding team. This is a hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to shape the finance function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The responsibilities of the Financial Controller role:
As Financial Controller, you will report to the CFO and manage a small team of finance professionals. You'll take the lead on cost accounting, compliance, financial reporting, process improvement, and operational support, playing a key part in the business’s growth journey.
Key Responsibilities as Financial Controller:
* Strategically lead a team of highly qualified Accountants and finance professionals
* Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, audit readiness, and tax compliance
* Deliver timely, insightful management information and financial statements
* Oversee payroll and support the budgeting and reforecasting cycle
* Champion robust financial controls and process documentation
* Partner with operational leaders to optimise resources and investment
* Improve systems for inventory valuation, cost accounting, and reporting
* Deputise for the Finance Director as needed
Key experience required for the Financial Controller position:
* Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)
* Very strong background in Cost Accounting within a manufacturing or engineering environment
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role
* Strong background in manufacturing finance (costing, inventory, BOMs, etc.)
* Comfortable in fast-growing SME environments
* A natural people leader, able to coach and build high-performing teams
* Skilled in Excel and finance systems; SAP Business One is a bonus
* Process-driven, commercially aware, and detail-focused
* Confident, collaborative, and ambitious — ready to grow with the business
The Offer:
