* Variations, cost reporting and forecasting
* Taking-off from drawings and preparing estimates
* Use of estimating software to price and build tender submissions

What they're looking for
* QS with residential experience (contractor or developer background considered)
* Comfortable pricing works and carrying out take-offs
* Strong commercial awareness across the full project lifecycle
* Someone looking to progress and grow with the business
* Practical, solutions-focused mindset

The Company
A privately run contractor delivering residential developments across Essex and the wider region.
They operate on schemes ranging from one-off bespoke houses through to developments of up to 50 units. It's a hands‑on business with direct director involvement and a steady pipeline of repeat work.
The commercial team is lean - which means exposure across both surveying and estimating, not siloed roles.
This would suit someone who prefers accessibility to decision-makers, genuine responsibility and the opportunity to grow with the business rather than sit in a large corporate structure.
