Role Overview
We are seeking a Bookkeeper to primarily manage purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll processes. The ideal candidate will have a meticulous approach to financial data, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality service to clients and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Process purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely entry into the accounting system
* Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
* Prepare and perform regular bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
* Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll, including pensions and statutory payments
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchase ledger records
* Support month-end procedures, including accruals and prepayments
* Liaise with suppliers and clients to resolve queries in a professional and timely manner
* Assist with VAT returns and other ad-hoc finance tasks as required
* Work closely with the wider team to ensure financial data accuracy and compliance
Requirements
* Minimum AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
* Proven experience working in a similar accounts assistant role
* Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll processes
* Experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage 50, Xero, AutoEntry, Bright Pay)
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
