Linklaters is a global law firm, providing legal services in 20 countries and through 30 offices.
Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.
We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.
Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.
We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.
The role:
Are you passionate about people, development, and delivering excellent client service? Join Linklaters as a Resource Manager in our Structured Finance Group (SFG), where you'll play a central role in maximising the effective, fair allocation and development of legal talent.
As Resource Manager, you'll:
* Match lawyers with the right matters and projects, aligning client requirements with team utilisation, business needs, and individual strengths.
* Build strong, empathetic relationships across the practice to proactively anticipate and understand resourcing needs.
* Work closely with partners and lawyers to track workload, anticipate pipeline, and meet resourcing challenges.
* Provide data-driven insights to support planning and growth.
* Support the health and well-being of our lawyers, fostering a busy, fair, and supportive working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Taking ownership of and enhancing resourcing procedures.
* Identifying and discussing appropriate resources for incoming work, considering utilisation, skillset, business need, profitability, and development.
* Monitoring ongoing matters, anticipating changes in workload, and managing absences.
* Providing management information to support strategic decisions.
* Supporting diversity and inclusion in work allocation.
* Collaborating on annual appraisals and engagement initiatives.
* Ensuring accurate and timely completion of timesheets.
* Supporting associate development through regular check-ins and feedback.
* Integrating trainees, new joiners, and secondees into the group.
* Managing the group's risk register and financial exposure.
* Liaising with other Resource Managers to ensure an integrated approach across practice areas.
What we're looking for:
We're seeking a hard-working, ambitious, and energetic team player who is committed to delivering excellent client service. The ideal candidate will be passionate about people and their development, with experience as a resource manager or in a people management role—preferably, but not necessarily, within a legal environment. Applications from other sectors, especially client and financial services, are welcome.
You'll bring:
* Strong emotional intelligence and commercial awareness.
* The ability to build effective relationships across all levels of seniority.
* A willingness to challenge the status quo when appropriate.
* Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
* Enjoyment in building positive relationships and contributing to a high-performing, supportive, and diverse team culture.
