Job Title: Building Surveyor (Degree Apprentice) Location: Wherstead Park, Ipswich, Suffolk (with regular travel to sites) Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (min 3 days per week in the office) Contract Type: Permanent, Hybrid working Reporting to: Head of Facilities Management Team: Building Services About the Role We’re delighted to be offering an exciting opportunity to join our Building Services Team as a Building Surveyor (Degree Apprentice) at the East of England Co-op. This is a structured, long-term development role designed to build future surveying expertise within our organisation. You’ll gain hands-on experience across our diverse property portfolio while studying towards a RICS-accredited Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship (BSc Hons Building Surveying). Working from Wherstead Park and travelling to sites across our Society, you’ll develop real-world skills in property maintenance, compliance, asset management, and project delivery; all while contributing to the sustainability and resilience of our buildings. What You’ll Be Doing Support property inspections, surveys, and site visits across our portfolio. Assist in planning and delivering maintenance works and minor capital projects. Contribute to lifecycle planning and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes. Support compliance activities including Building Regulations, asbestos management, and accessibility standards. Work alongside surveyors to develop cost estimates, specifications, and schedules of work. Assist in coordinating contractors, consultants, and specialist service providers. Contribute to maintaining the Asset Management Plan and compliance registers. Develop knowledge in building pathology and property risk management. What You’ll Need GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above. Minimum 112 UCAS Tariff points at Level 3 (A Levels, BTEC National Diploma or equivalent). Eligibility to enrol on a Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship. A full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to Society sites. A genuine interest in property, construction, or the built environment. Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office. Motivation to study alongside full-time employment and commit to a long-term development pathway. Practical experience in property, facilities, or construction (paid or voluntary) is desirable but not essential. Why Join Us?
