SEN Teaching Assistant

Hours: 8:30am 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
About the Role
We work with more than 50 primary schools in Newham, Tower Hamlets and Barking and Dagenham who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants. The successful candidate will have experience supporting children with additional needs, including delivering personal care, and will play an important role in helping the pupil to engage with other pupils and access learning in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent one-to-one support, ensuring the pupil feels safe and secure at school.
Assist with personal care where necessary.
Encourage and facilitate positive interaction and engagement with other pupils.
Follow individual support plans and work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO.
Attend fortnightly training sessions to support your professional development and share best practice with colleagues.
Maintain a tidy and organised learning environment and ensure you are fully prepared for each day.
Requirements
Previous experience working with children with behavioural needs and non-verbal communication.
Confidence and experience with providing personal care.
A calm, patient and resilient approach to working with children with additional needs.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Punctuality and a professional approach, including adhering to the schools dress code.
Additional Information
It is considered good practice to arrive at school by 8am to ensure you are ready for the day ahead.
Staff are expected to keep classrooms tidy, ensure they have all personal belongings when leaving, and be prepared for the following day.
The schools dress code policy must be followed at all times to maintain a high level of professionalism.
