We have an exciting opportunity to join our Student Support and Foundation Learning Department as a Pastoral Support Officer (Care Experienced) on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) term-time only basis (over 38 weeks).

You will be required to travel; this role will be across 3 campuses (Wythenshawe, City Campus Manchester, and Openshaw).

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will provide dedicated support to care-experienced young people, working under the Head of Inclusion Preventative Education and Cohesion, and guidance of the Designated Teachers. Your focus will be on removing barriers to learning faced by care-experienced students and promoting their educational development, enabling them to achieve positive outcomes.

You will respond swiftly to 'at risk' indicators by setting clear, targeted goals in collaboration with students and relevant agencies. You will work closely alongside internal college teams and external agencies to coordinate timely interventions and sustained support.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

7. Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
8. Qualified to at least level 3 in Education, Social Care, Mentoring, Youth Work, Counselling or Advice Guidance.
9. Evidence of effective use of ICT systems and programs; including ProMonitor, EBS Reports.
10. Evidence of effective use of ICT systems and programs; including Microsoft Office.
11. Evidence of supporting learners in an educational setting, preferably FE / HE.
12. Evidence of working with 16+ students, including adults.
13. Evidence of experience in providing support for academic and personal, social and health development.
14. Experience of motivating and affective change. targeted and universal pastoral. interventions or attendance improvements.
15. Effective mentoring / coaching skills.
16. Effective time-management.
17. Prioritising workload and problem solving.
18. Ability to work to deadlines.
19. Flexibility of approach.
20. Working in a team.
21. Attending meetings and contributing to the development of working practices.
22. Evidence of continuous professional development.
23. Promotion of a positive culture.
24. Promote and develop enrichment and promotion of wider-college opportunities.
