2. Niche career opportunity with lots of progression available
3. Team office day is Monday – Non-negotiable. 80% of your hours from home
About the role
Are you a vetting, compliance, or governance professional looking for your next career move? Join NFU Mutual’s Governance and Business Support team and play a vital role in protecting the integrity and performance of our nationwide Agency Network.
Reporting into our Engagement and Governance function, this team is responsible for overseeing every key change in the Agency lifecycle – from onboarding new Agents to conducting annual financial and regulatory checks across the network. It’s a highly trusted area of the business, working closely with senior stakeholders, the FCA and external suppliers to ensure our Agents operate with excellence, transparency and financial stability.
As a Governance and Business Support Consultant, you’ll be the go-to expert for assessing Agent suitability, reviewing financial submissions, coordinating approvals and managing contractual agreements. You’ll analyse business plans and payment arrangements, maintain oversight of good repute and compliance checks, and step in to resolve issues before they become risks. No two days will be the same – one moment you’ll be deep in financial data, the next building relationships with new Agents or recommending process improvements.
This role offers a unique blend of analytical responsibility, stakeholder engagement and operational ownership. You’ll not only help safeguard NFU Mutual’s reputation – you’ll have a real voice in how we shape future ways of working.
This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work-life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 80% of your hours from home. When successful, you’ll be required to come in on Mondays with the rest of the team. We’re open to hearing from applicants who are looking to work 28 hours a week as a part-time option, but as above, you will be required to come in on Mondays.
About you
You bring a naturally analytical mindset and enjoy working with structure, figures and factual detail. Used to handling data and documentation with care, you take responsibility for accuracy and don’t hesitate to question anything that doesn’t look right. Whether you’re reviewing financial submissions, managing competing deadlines or coordinating with others, you stay organised and see tasks through with integrity. Working within set processes comes naturally to you, but you’re also someone who speaks up when you see a better way of doing things.
To join our team, you’ll have:
4. Working knowledge of Excel, with confidence using formulas, filters and data inputs (essential)
5. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and spot anomalies
6. Experience working within set procedures or regulatory frameworks
7. Clear communication skills and the ability to build constructive working relationships
Experience of reviewing financial statements, working within financial services or using tools such as Experian reports or CRM databases would be advantageous, but is not essential — a questioning mindset and willingness to learn go a long way in this role.
At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.
We recognise that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. So, we encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process.
We're proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a Race at Work and Women in Finance Charter signatory and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.
