Drumduan School - Kindergarten Manager Job Description
Drumduan is a modern and progressive Steiner School located in the beautiful North-East of Scotland overlooking Findhorn Bay and the Moray Firth. The school emphasizes experiential education, nature connection, and creativity, providing a low technology environment for children to develop. It caters to students from Kindergarten to Class 12, with a dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff.
The school operates with a collective decision-making structure centered around the college of staff. The Coordination Group manages the school's operations to support its pedagogical purpose and financial sustainability. Additionally, School Development Groups (SDG) collaborate with the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) and work closely with the Operations Team.
Introduction
We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Kindergarten Manager to lead our Early Years provision. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality education and care for children and families, with leadership experience in an Early Years setting being essential. Knowledge of Steiner-Waldorf principles is desirable.
Main Responsibilities
1. Develop and promote Early Years services: Ensure high-quality provision aligned with Steiner principles, stay updated with local authority and Waldorf UK developments, and meet contractual and statutory requirements including Care Inspectorate, Education Scotland, Scottish Government, SSSC, and GTC standards.
2. Manage and develop the Early Years Department: Deploy staff, oversee recruitment, support professional development, facilitate team meetings, and maintain policies and risk assessments.
3. Child enrollment and family support: Promote services, assist with admissions, meet families, coordinate assessments, and support settling-in processes.
4. Child wellbeing and safeguarding: Oversee health, wellbeing, safeguarding, personal planning, and child protection procedures.
5. Administrative duties: Maintain records, produce reports, manage databases, oversee supplies and food orders, and ensure compliance with all regulations.
6. Represent the service: Act as the main contact with Moray Council, attend inspections and meetings, and address concerns or complaints.
Requirements
* Experience in an Early Years setting with leadership responsibilities.
* Experience managing budgets, resources, and developing policies.
* Established working relationships with local authorities and regulatory bodies.
* Relevant qualifications such as BA Childhood Practice, Postgraduate Diploma, or equivalent, or willingness to work towards them.
* Understanding of safeguarding policies, professionalism, and confidentiality.
* Knowledge of Steiner Waldorf approach is desirable.
* Organized, proactive, able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Effective communication skills and willingness to attend regular meetings.
* Willingness to adapt and a positive attitude.
