About the Role:
The primary role is to provide a high level of care, comfort, and wellbeing for all persons attending the event. Stewards should present themselves in a positive, courteous, and professional manner at all times, focusing on enhancing the customer experience.
The main duties include:
* Assisting with the circulation of spectators and preventing overcrowding
* Understanding responsibilities towards health and safety of all spectators, visitors, and staff
* Reducing the likelihood and incidence of disorder
* Investigating, reporting, and taking early action in incidents
* Understanding Club emergency procedures and coded messages
* Delivering excellent customer service
Stewards are expected to enforce ground regulations but not routinely involved in searching or ejections, as these are roles for Supervisors or specially trained stewards. No previous experience is required as full training will be provided.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Attend the Stadium at scheduled dates and times as directed
* Remain at your post until duties are completed, as instructed
* Participate in pre-event briefings and understand your responsibilities
* Ensure the safety, care, comfort, and wellbeing of spectators within your area
* Assist spectators in locating seats and managing crowd flow
* Ensure gangways, exits, and evacuation routes are clear
* Report incidents, hazards, or suspicious activity immediately
* Be aware of emergency procedures, fire-fighting equipment, and first aid locations
* Be willing to undertake basic lifesaving training
* Recognize potential hazards and report them promptly
* Follow all instructions from Safety Officers and emergency personnel
What are we looking for:
* Must be at least 18 years old, fit, active, and able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
* Remain calm, courteous, and adaptable in changing situations
* Have good communication skills and a smart appearance
* Able to manage conflict and challenge inappropriate behaviour confidently
* Capable of standing, climbing stairs, and remaining stationary for prolonged periods
* Possess basic numeracy and literacy skills
* Willing to undertake Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety
