Wessex Academia Poole, England, United Kingdom
We are looking for a medic mentor to work with sixth form students who are on a careers experience programme. This week-long programme gives students the opportunity to experience what life as a doctor is like, with some classroom-based theory, lab-based skills development such as suturing and phlebotomy, and experiencing a mock hospital ward.
We need vibrant professionals to guide students during this experience. This may suit someone who no longer practices or who works in a way that would allow them to spend some time with students outside of work. It may also suit a student medic who is completing their training and needs something to boost their income.
This position is on a contractor basis, and daily rates (for approximately 10am-5pm) are around £200 per day.
Our courses are held at two times during the year (August and October), but you would not need to do both or even the whole week.
Applicants must have some experience of working in a medical environment. If not a junior doctor/doctor or trainee of such position, they should have experience of the academic side of this career path. Our tutors will need to undergo safeguarding briefings and have a valid enhanced DBS, which we can obtain if the applicant does not already have one.
