About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Modern Workplace engineer to join our team reporting into the Desktop Support team lead. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in the cloud and end user compute space to be a part of Smiths News’ modern workplace journey.
Key. Accountabilities
* Technical Escalation: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving high-level technical issues and escalations related to Microsoft 365, Azure services, Intune compliance, and other modern workplace technologies.
* Project Involvement: Participate in IT projects related to modern workplace enhancements, migrations, and new technology rollouts.
* Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest in Microsoft technologies and best practices for modern workplace environments, continuously improving processes and team capabilities.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, including diagrams and procedures
* Monitor system compliance and ensure optimal operation of end user compute
* Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve Azure/365 incidents and projects
* Be a member of the onshore presence for office-based users
About you
* Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S)
* Knowledge and experience using modern device management (Intune) and cloud services (Azure)
* Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Azure Fundamentals, Windows 10/11 certifications, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent.
* Effective written and oral communication skills
Preferred Skills:
* Experience in PowerShell scripting for automation.
* Familiarity with security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR).
* Experience in hybrid environments (on-prem and cloud).
