Job Title: Finance Analyst - Business Programme Finance (ACTS)

Grade: P1

Function: Finance

Location: Harlow (Hybrid) with visits to Warminster

About the role:

A key role reporting to the Finance Manager within the ACTS (Army Collective Training Services) Programme. This role will be responsible for providing high quality business partnering and supporting accurate, actionable financial analysis and insight to the Programme team.

The individual will be relied upon to provide proactive accurate reporting to the Programme to support insightful decision making. The individual will ensure compliance with financial governance and policy requirements and support to monthly business forecasting; AOP (Annual Operating Plan) and 5-year strategic planning and project accounting (EACs).

Responsibilities:

1. Production of Weekly and Monthly Reporting requirements for all elements of the ACTS Programme

2. Booking code set-up, time recording analysis and support to the weekly namerun reviews

3. Month-end close activities, including journal preparation

4. Account reconciliations and other post close activities

5. Providing day-to-day financial aid for key stakeholders

6. Assist with the quarterly EAC (Estimate at Completion) programme reporting

7. Support into AOP and LRP activities

8. Support of pricing activity for commercial bid activities

9. Ability to balance multiple priorities with tight deadlines

10. Strong communication across varying functions and levels with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance staff

11. Ad hoc analysis as required by the business and wider finance team

Candidate Requirements:

12. AAT Qualified/ Part Qualified CIMA(Preferred)/ACCA

13. 2+ Relevant years’ experience in finance roles

Essential skills:

14. Comfortable working with data and detail, with the ability to summarise simple, clear messages.

15. Able to manage multiple tasks and stay organised when working to deadlines.

16. Enjoys working collaboratively and contributing positively to team goals.

17. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

18. Curious about how the business works and motivated to learn.

19. Developing analytical skills with an interest in building financial capability.

20. Confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

21. Proactive, eager to learn, and willing to bring forward new ideas.

Desirable skills:

22. Exposure to SAP, Excel, Power BI or other finance systems.

23. Experience working with stakeholders or across different teams.

24. Any experience working in a matrix environment.

25. Early experience supporting problem‑solving or issue resolution in academic, work, or placement settings.
