Tax Manager – Edinburgh, Hybrid (3 days p/w on site) – Contract until end of 2025
Overview
* Assist with the delivery of UK Tax reporting for Life Tax clients as required, ensuring daily, monthly and annual tasks/reporting are completed in a timely manner; effectively reviewed and checklists completed to evidence key controls have been adhered to.
* Ensure junior members of the team effectively review daily CGT control reports, identify errors and resolve unprocessed CGT or loan relationship positions correctly prior to daily pricing position. Monitor effective resolution of errors and escalation of issues in a timely manner.
* Assist with the delivery of UK Tax reporting for collective investment funds as required, including the review and authorisation of corporation tax computations and returns; income tax computations; VAT returns and annual adjustment calculations; quarterly tax rate reviews; forms CT61; asset setup and tax table queries.
* Ensure attention to detail and strict adherence to departmental processes and procedures to minimise risk, and identify process improvements and efficiencies where possible.
* Keep up to date with life fund tax technical and regulatory changes and assist with associated training within the Tax Team. Maintain an awareness of industry issues for Authorised and Life funds.
* Develop effective relationships with clients and external third parties, ensuring that taxation issues/queries are resolved satisfactorily within agreed deadlines and following established procedures. Attend client service review meetings as required.
* Coordinate service changes/new client implementations/fund mergers, ensuring they are managed effectively with minimal client disruption.
* Knowledge of Withholding Tax; familiarity with double taxation treaties and cross-border taxation.
* Be proactive in interfacing with other functions to ensure data flows are maintained and issues resolved efficiently.
* Contribute to maintaining an enthusiastic and motivated team, ensuring individual and team objectives are progressed.
* Liaise with clients/internal departments in developing new and existing tax reports or system enhancements to ensure effective and timely implementation.
* Respond to ad hoc queries from clients and other departments proactively and efficiently. Support project work and implementation team as subject matter expert where possible.
Required Skills & Experience:
* At least 5 years financial services experience.
* Ideally educated to degree level.
* Knowledge of ICON would be useful but not essential.
* Attention to detail.
* Excellent analytical and communication skills.
* Team player with the ability to work with limited supervision.
* Comfortable dealing with client contacts and third parties.
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and assist colleagues throughout the business.
* Comfortable researching and disseminating technical knowledge to the team.
