J Reddington is the Civil and Structural direct delivery construction arm of the JRL group. We have an in house team, capable of the design and build of: piling, deep basements, drainage, civils and structural RC frames. We work both in the external market for key clients and for Midgard on internal self-delivered projects.
Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Technician with a civil engineering background to support the design and delivery of infrastructure and civil engineering projects. The role involves producing accurate technical drawings, layouts, and models in line with project specifications, standards, and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings for civil engineering projects (roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks, structures, etc.)
Prepare construction drawings, plans, sections, details, and schedules
Revise and update drawings based on engineer and client feedback
Ensure drawings comply with relevant standards, codes, and company procedures
Coordinate drawings with other disciplines (structural, highways, utilities, architects)
Manage drawing registers, revisions, and document control
Assist engineers with design development and technical support
Interpret surveys, engineering calculations, and design sketches
Support project delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards
Required Skills & Experience Proven experience as a CAD Technician within civil engineering or infrastructure
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (essential)
Experience working on civil layouts, drainage, highways, or infrastructure projects
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
High attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Desirable Skills Experience with Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar civil design software
Understanding of UK/International design standards (e.g. DMRB, SUDS, local authority standards)
Basic knowledge of BIM processes and workflows
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
