Business Unit
We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions and asset owners/operators worldwide. From business case preparation and advising on revenue, procurement and environmental legislation to delivering and maintaining infrastructure.
Role Overview
We are expanding our transport planning team in the North West and North East of the UK, looking for a Transport Planner to deliver high quality, cost‑effective, tailored solutions to public and private sector clients.
You will work on high‑profile projects for clients such as National Grid, Royal Mail, Anglian Water, Manchester Airports Group, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, local authorities and NHS trusts.
The role offers opportunities for technical and personal skill development and career progression, including support for professional qualification.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess impacts of developments.
* Develop and commission transport surveys.
* Analyse transport data and present findings.
* Scope and produce Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Construction Traffic Management Plans, Servicing and Delivery Plans, etc.
* Provide technical advice for feasibility proposals.
* Conduct transport modelling and appraisal.
* Perform discrete junction modelling.
* Support preparation of tender submissions and proposals.
* Evaluate project outcomes.
Candidate Specification
Essential
* A degree in Transport Planning or a related subject (Engineering, Geography, Mathematics, Town Planning, Science) or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in Transport Assessments, Statements, Travel Plans and similar documentation.
* Experience commissioning or supporting data gathering exercises.
* Experience with industry‑standard junction assessment or transport modelling software.
* High numeracy skills and clear written and verbal communication.
* Practical problem‑solving ability; adaptable and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
* Private sector background with experience supporting projects for local authorities and public sector clients.
* Experience managing elements of projects, including internal project delivery.
* Effective communication with all staff levels up to senior level.
