The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer provides expertise and technical leadership in the design of systems involving momentum, energy, and mass transport. The CFD Engineer is responsible for performing simulations for aero/thermal development, supporting cooling, thermal protection, and climate control development. The candidate will work closely with Thermal Integration engineers, Engine Systems, HVAC/Interior, Body engineering, and other teams to communicate simulation results and recommendations. Key responsibilities include:
1. Perform vehicle-level CFD simulations to support aero/thermal development, including cooling and thermal protection.
2. Conduct CFD simulations focused on automotive paint processes, such as electrodeposition coating (eCoat).
3. Work on future vehicle programs emphasizing process efficiency and innovation.
4. Develop and execute CFD simulations for new programs based on vehicle content and objectives.
5. Collaborate with engineering teams to communicate results and improve designs.
6. Prepare presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
7. Ensure CFD model validity and correlation with physical testing.
8. Make design modifications to demonstrate benefits and perform 'what if' studies.
9. Engage proactively in vehicle development activities and take ownership of simulation tasks.
10. Participate in vehicle testing to enhance correlation between physical and virtual testing.
11. Work with offshore teams as needed.
Requirements
* Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience with CFD software.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Experience with STAR-CCM+, ANSA, and TAITherm is a plus.
* Solid understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer.
* Knowledge of vehicle systems, especially cooling, HVAC, and powertrain.
* Exposure to thermal testing and validation is beneficial.
* Experience with JAVA and Matlab is an asset.
* Master's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with focus on CFD, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
* Automotive product development experience preferred.
* Willingness to travel to the USA 1-2 times per month.
* Valid driver’s license.
Job specifics
* Location: Windsor, ON (On-site)
* Full-time, hourly pay: $41.00 - $42.78
* Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts, weekends as needed
