GSL Education are currently recruiting for a SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming and inclusive primary school setting in High Peak. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on helping young learners overcome barriers to learning. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential. About the Role In this vital role, you will provide targeted support to primary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) needs. Key Responsibilities: Deliver one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs across Key Stages 1 and 2. Assist the class teacher in planning and adapting learning activities to meet individual pupils’ needs. Implement strategies to support communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation. Monitor pupil engagement and behaviour, and report observations to relevant staff. Support pupils in achieving targets set within EHCPs or individual learning plans. Promote inclusion and help foster a safe, respectful, and stimulating learning environment. Be available to move between classrooms or locations as needed, ensuring consistency of care and support. Job Requirements: Experience supporting primary-aged children with SEN, preferably within a school or similar setting. Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a reliable vehicle. Understanding of different types of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs while maintaining a positive and patient approach. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, pupils, and parents. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
