Work within the project team environment providing support and advice to operational teams on aspects of the sustainability agenda specific to their appointment and skillset, as well as supporting the implementation of the Sustainability Management System and the Sisk Sustainability Strategy across relevant projects. Help deliver a culture of continual improvement.


Responsibilities include:

1. Attending relevant functional sustainability team meetings.
2. Contributing proactively to the ongoing development of the Sustainability Management System.
3. Understanding and promoting the Sustainability Management System, Strategy, and 2030 Sustainability Roadmap to ensure continual improvement.
4. Sharing knowledge and best practices across projects and functions.
5. Understanding and ensuring compliance with the company Sustainability Policy, Procedures, and statutory requirements.
6. Championing the Sisk Sustainability Strategy and promoting change on-site.
7. Developing and implementing actions to meet project sustainability objectives and targets.
8. Ensuring compliance of the Sustainability Management System at the site level, including supporting the population and review of the Project SEEP and related documentation.
9. Reviewing and monitoring work activities for compliance with the Sustainability Management System Procedures.
10. Assisting with project Sustainability MS Compliance audits/inspections, including external audits by certification bodies.
11. Supporting tender and prequalification teams regarding marketing, tenders, and pre-qualification information.
12. Liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors on environmental management and sustainability matters.
13. Supporting the reporting and monitoring of Sustainability performance against KPIs.
14. Maintaining and expanding personal knowledge and competencies related to Environmental Management, including relevant qualifications and memberships.
15. Staying informed about changes to standards and legislation and recommending updates to systems and processes as needed.
16. Providing advice on preventing environmental incidents and complaints, and implementing company policies.
17. Leading and supporting the reporting and investigation of environmental incidents and helping implement controls to prevent recurrence.
18. Advising on obtaining legal consents, licenses, permits, and exemptions, as required.
19. Managing the process for obtaining necessary licenses and permits, liaising with enforcement agencies such as Natural England, Environment Agency, EPA, and Local Authorities.
20. Delivering environmental training as needed.
21. Having at least 3-5 years of environmental experience in a construction or similar environment.
22. Possessing a full relevant driver’s license and flexibility to travel.
23. Supporting environmental inspections and audits of projects.
24. Applying legal, technical, and regulatory information to construction processes.
25. Exhibiting strong written and oral communication skills.
26. Having good IT skills and developing analytical problem-solving skills.
27. Possessing influencing skills and the ability to manage challenging conversations.
28. Engaging with senior management to ensure internal system compliance and regulatory adherence.
29. Demonstrating effective time management and organizational skills.
30. Exhibiting interpersonal and engagement skills, being self-motivated, and driven to meet objectives.
31. Holding a relevant degree and/or professional qualification, and IEMA Associate (Practitioner) Membership.
32. Desirable: Incident Investigation Training.
