Entry Grade Planning Advisor – Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire Sustainable Places Team
Overview
We are looking for an entry grade Planning Advisor to support the Environment Agency’s interaction with the Town & Country Planning process, helping the team manage planning consultations and contribute to environmental outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and administrative support to enable efficient delivery of high‑quality outcomes
- Support responses to lower risk statutory planning consultations and pre‑planning enquiries
- Gather timely and high‑quality advice from internal teams to influence planning decisions
- Adopt new ways of working to improve efficiency and customer service
- Administer chargeable advice service
- Deliver clear and positive planning service to customers
Required Skills & Experience
- A willingness to learn new things and take on new information quickly
- Strong customer service, communication and relationship building skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with ability to respond to changing priorities within set timescales
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude, driving new ways of working
Desirable
- Understanding of environmental issues
- Knowledge of the UK town and country planning system
- Ability to influence others and contribute to discussions
- Consideration of information to support decision‑making under competing factors
