Description Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to the Enterprise, delivering £5.5bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 – 2030, and AMP 9 (2030 – 2035). Our scope is to provide project management, design, construction and commissioning services on design and build schemes throughout the Northwest and Cumbria region covered by United Utilities. Projects vary in value, covering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets on water and wastewater sites with wider Enterprise partners The role of Quality Engineer is to ensure the effective performance of all quality activities against the compliance requirements of project specifications and standards Responsibilities Maintain a good working relationship with the Client and associated project personnel Implement and maintain the Contract management and Quality Plan and Policy, procedures as required Ensure materials being incorporated into the Works comply with the specification, supporting the Material Approval process Attend Quality Risk Reduction meetings, provide insight and contribute to creation of RAMS Oversee the creation of ITPs and ensure relevant inspection and hold points are identified Liaise with the Construction Team, providing support and direction, including with Technical Queries and design changes Promote ‘Right First Time’ delivery and drive positive quality and Health and Safety cultures Engage with supply chain to review and approve Quality Documentation Assist Construction team engineers to create and maintain quality documentation Undertake inspections, attend hold point, monitoring quality and compliance with standards as part of the day-to-day running of the project Ensure materials testing is completed as required Identify Non-Conformances and Defects against approved detailed design. Contribute to Root Cause analysis, resolution, and prevention of further occurrences Assist with planning and carrying out audits of the works on site and possibly off-site fabrication facilities Liaise with Client and arrange any client witness points Provide feedback, report to Quality Manager/Lead, and contribute to regular Quality meetings Identify issues, raise Quality observations and hazards, and assist with their resolution Lead on collating and compiling Client handover documentation Qualifications Essential Experience in a quality related role or in the construction industry Organized individual with good communication skills Previous experience in multi-site construction works Experience in multi discipline works Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Desirable Internal Auditor qualification ISO 9001:2015 Member of Chartered Quality Institute Engineering qualification or relevant experience and knowledge of design and engineering methodologies Knowledge of working within the water industry LI-JA1
