Your role will include: \nâSupport Health and Safety Specialists in evaluating site capabilities for new hazardous raw \nmaterials (chemicals) and finished products, ensuring compliance with health and safety policies. \n \nâAssist in Policy Development & Implementation by creating, reviewing, and amending Health and Safety related policies and procedures as required. \n \nâConduct Risk Assessments & Audits in collaboration with departments to identify potential risks and ensure thorough documentation for regulatory compliance. \n \nâSupport Incident Investigation & Reporting by assisting with inquiries into incidents and contributing to detailed reports for analysis and continuous improvement. \n \nâParticipate in Training & Development by assisting in the delivery of the Health and Safety training plan. \n \nâFoster Cross-Team Collaboration by working with colleagues across a manufacturing site and the employee representative health and safety team to promote a proactive safety culture. \n \nâMonitor Completion of Corrective Actions for Health and Safety improvements, ensuring timely implementation of recommendations and corrective actions. \n \nâSupport Safety Initiatives & Campaigns by assisting in crafting engaging safety campaigns that raise awareness and drive positive change within the organization. \n \nâEngage with External stakeholders by working with local authorities and Health and Safety representatives from other Merck sites to ensure compliance with applicable legislation. \n \nâContribute to Continuous Improvement in Health and Safety activities by identifying and driving improvement initiatives across the site. During your training, you will complete the SQA Modern Apprenticeship âOccupational Health and Safety â SCQF Level 7â, NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safe and one other selected professional health and safety qualification. You will work as a full-time team member at Merck, gaining a comprehensive practical understanding in the field. \n\nThe curriculum covers various subjects, including: \nâHSE Legislation \nâHSE Management Systems and Standards \nâHazard Identification and Risk Assessment \nâIncident Causation Theories and Prevention \nâCommunication and Teamwork in HSE Practices Minimum three Higher including English (Essential) \nâBiology or Chemistry Higher (Highly Desirable) \nâA strong interest in health and safety \nâExcellent communication skills \nâInitiative, sense of responsibility, independence, and ability to work in a team \nâStrong organisational and time management skills. \nâAttention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. \nâAbility to use Microsoft Office \n
