We are looking for an industrial designer or product designer with experience in ceramic products to support a short-term project.
The mandate focuses on the development of a ceramic mug. The goal is to create a simple, production-ready design with a deliberately imperfect, handcrafted look rather than a polished, mass-produced aesthetic.
We currently have inspiration references and a target capacity, but no fixed dimensions yet. The designer will help define appropriate proportions, ergonomics, and overall balance based on ceramic manufacturing constraints.
Scope of Work
• Development of one ceramic mug design
• Simple 3D modeling to define proportions and ergonomics
• 2D technical drawings for production
• Consideration of ceramic production constraints, including wall thickness, handle ergonomics, and stability
• Smooth overall surfaces with a deliberately imperfect, handcrafted look, where subtle, organic surface irregularities are intentional and part of the aesthetic rather than defects
• Delivery of production-ready files, including 2D drawings and/or STEP files if relevant
Requirements
• Background in industrial design or product design
• Experience with ceramic products or slip casting is a strong plus
• Strong CAD skills using SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar software
• Ability to design with manufacturing and mold production in mind
Project Structure
• The initial scope will focus on the development of one ceramic mug
• If the collaboration goes well, the project may be extended to two additional mug designs and other ceramic products, including matcha sets
Project Type
• Short-term mandate with potential for ongoing collaboration
Contract duration of less than 1 month. with 30 hours per week.
