We are looking for a committed, reliable, and motivated individual to lead a team of 7, working 2:1 to provide support for a young man (aged 17 years) with learning and physical disabilities as the result of a serious road traffic accident as a young child. He lives with his family in Walsall; the family home incorporates an annexe for the clients use including a hydrotherapy pool. He is wheelchair dependent and uses non-verbal methods to communicate with others, alongside a communication device that you will be trained to use. He requires full assistance for his personal care and others to maintain his safety and wellbeing. He enjoy cartoons, getting out and about with his support workers, swimming and watching TV/using his iPad.
He attends school in Birmingham during term time and you will work alongside his family and professionals to provide high quality care, and promote his independence, well-being and quality of life.
Full training, both online and practical, and support is given but previous leadership experience is essential for this role.
You will be required to complete undertake staff supervisions, implement any changes that may arise, ensure the highest quality of care is delivered and that we are compliant according to CQC.
You will also be expected to do daily notes which are sent to the Care Manager, as well as communicating any changes that may need to be made to the care plan or risk assessments, undertake light household duties and to work with and feedback to therapists.
Full driving licence is essential as accessing the community is a priority for this gentleman at present, especially now the summer holidays are upon us in a few months. He has his own adapted vehicle.
Hours of Work
Shifts available are 10 hr shifts 9.30am–19.30pm or 4 hr shifts 3.30pm–19.30pm at home after school. It will be necessary for you to attend school as well as undertake the home shifts, as this is key for consistency with our client.
Full time role of 40 hours per week including every other weekend. We anticipate 10 of your weekly hours will be dedicated to Team Leader tasks.
Hours of work can be slightly different/longer in school holidays.
Rates of Pay
£17 per hour weekdays
Due to the nature of the role an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service is required.
