Accessibility Support Worker - Southampton Education School
We are seeking an Accessibility Support Worker to assist a vision-impaired academic in the Southampton Education School. This position is part-time, 8 hours per week, for 1 year with the potential for extension up to 3 years. Duties will vary but include:
1. Creating and managing data records, including Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint slides for research, teaching, and administrative purposes.
2. Assisting with library research activities, such as searching catalogues, databases, and electronic sources.
3. Interpreting data, including inaccessible or visual representations of student work and research data.
4. Supporting the use of electronic platforms (e.g., Worktribe).
5. Applying academic referencing using various conventions (e.g., APA, Harvard) and relevant software.
6. Preparing materials for publication.
7. Conducting literature reviews as directed.
8. Providing practical assistance in campus settings, placements, or field trips.
9. Occasional physical support on university campus or property.
10. Reading aloud academic materials such as journal articles, books, exam papers, or handouts.
11. Recording academic material in digital formats.
12. Transcribing handwritten notes or audio recordings using standard word processing software.
