Caretaker:
An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Eastleigh-based Facilities Department as a Caretaker. Your key responsibilities will be to support and maintain the smooth running of the site whilst working as part of the facilities team. This role offers great opportunities for development and qualifications if desired.
Normal working hours are 37.5 per week, on shifts as below. Your rostered hours will be worked Monday to Sunday between 06:00 – 22:00. Flexibility is required, including working additional hours or overtime, weekends, and public holidays, according to business needs. Example shifts include a 3-week rotation: Weekdays - Early 06:45-14:45, Mid 8:00-16:00, Late 12:15-20:15; Weekends - subject to demand.
Main Responsibilities as Caretaker:
* Work as part of a team delivering high standards in a busy office environment to support staff welfare.
* Carry out weekly and monthly checks including plant inspection, lighting, water hygiene, and fire alarm tests.
* Perform general building repairs such as fixing leaks, changing bulbs, painting, and adjusting door fittings. Diagnose faults and call in contractors when needed.
* Assist with office moves and setting up meeting and training rooms.
* Manage contractors on site, ensuring safe working practices and record-keeping for audits.
* Respond to emergency call-outs (1 week in 4).
Skills and Experience Needed:
* Ability to carry out maintenance tasks across plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting, and cleaning, depending on qualifications and experience.
* Physical ability to handle heavy furniture and equipment; manual handling training will be provided.
* Understanding of current health and safety laws, Safe Systems of Work, and IOSH training.
* Fire Warden and First Aid at Work training will be provided.
* Building Management System (BMS) software training is desirable.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and asset planning software.
* Strong customer service skills, tact, diplomacy, and a proactive approach to meet various requests.
